Mashup
Writing this from the BT Centre in London at the third Mashup event which is taking place. The first networking session has happened and now the session has started. Mind you we have lost about 70 people who have headed over to BT Tower instead!
Some photos are here.
So first on stage is Marc Canter for a 5 minute introduction!! Wow that was pretty close to 5 minutes
Stephen Stokols - BT Retail director of eChannels - is next on stage. Initially starting with an overview of the market to date. Now talking about Comms 2.0 and the future, another 2.0 thing, but going into to more detail about the opportunities in the fast moving comms market. BT Contact now introduced front end to many existing services such as Skype, Yahoo etc. Interesting screenshot of BT Contact which goes to Beta internally next week in BT. There's a lot in there, buddy list, presence, integration ith fixed lines. The UI is very interesting and Netvibes like.
Now a panel session taking place and first question is about advertising and why have. Always interesting when Marc Canter is on a panel. Where is the advertising goin, where the audience is today. Currently trying to upload a MMS but it is not working yet, dodgy signal. Lots of talk about subcription and free services, very interesting.
So who owns the data? So far no answer, the user should but be interesting to hear the answers.
Why will people pay, trust, openess, standards etc. Some of the answers given.
A video is below of some of the event.
Got to keep things simple for uptake at the end of the day.
Tony Fish is chairing the session extremely well. Asking and challenging the panel.
