August 1

Plan was to have a group breakfast........but everyone was running a little late. We finally managed a late breakfast across town. A short drive to Daniels house - he kitted me a john out in some T-shirts he was given as part of his work. John got a nice grey one, i got the only one that fitted me - a pink womens one!!!

Daniel had a good collection of Star Wars figures (think he may have had a geek childhood) and a great tea cloth of Mersea!

Mieke had a 12 oclock appointment - her reward for not smoking!!! John and I tackled the job of changing the fork seals - however, we did not start until we walked and got a coffee from the coffee shop - no typewriterman. Changing the seals was dead easy......left the seals in the freezer to shrink whilst we used a spare fuel pump to pump the old oil out. What took a long time was packing up....coming up with a new system to strap all my kit down now i did not have two tyres to wedge everything in!! By 1600 we were ready to leave - a quick group photo and we left...

...but not before John bought a Leatherman Wave - from Portland Oregon (they are made in Portland). Back on the highway heading for the coast.....the goal was a place called Seaside - it sounded nice. However, it was a bit like Southend crossed with Clacton...we ate and left!! The sun was starting to set and we made dash to Astoria - and the cool bridge.
