Next few weeks

The plan over the coming weeks is:

Leave Kz tomorrow (friday) and enter Russia...then take a few days getting to the Mongolian border.
I think it will take me a week or two to get to Ulan Batar and then a week or so to get back into Russia.
Then, a month or so to get to the end of Russia (Magadan).

I have no idea of internet cafes on the route....i am not totally convinced there are petrol stations and roads, let alone internet!!!

If anyone wants to find roads in Mongolia and send me a small map, that will be appreciated!!!

Lin's produced a quick guide to Arsenal for you, as per your request of a few weeks ago. Hopefully they like the gunners in .mn as much as in .kz!

The Mighty Arsenal

Home for last 93 years has been Highbury but for next season moving to Ashburton Grove (aka the Emirates Stadium) - Arsenal remains the nearest tube station. Highbury is being converted into luxury flats with the pitch staying as a garden area. Fans are called Gooners, team nickname is The Gunners.

Good news for 2005/06 season:
• Finished 4th in the league on the last day of the season beating Spurs to the last Champions League place (which they'd been in since Xmas, shame!) – they all faked illness in a bid to get the game replayed
• Thierry signed for another 4 years
• Youngster done v good
• Against Juventus in the Champions League – Bobby (Pires) won the ball in a tackle on Patrick (Vieira) on his return to Highbury and he never tackles anyone!

Bad news for 2005/06 season:
• Lost Champions League Final in Paris having had Lehmann sent off and taken lead with Sol Campbell header
• Rubbish away from home
• Dennis Bergkamp's last season

Manager – Arsene Wenger, French, eats, sleeps, thinks football – credited with dragging English football into the modern age in terms of coaching, diet and fitness programmes. Aided by Coach Pat Rice, ex-Arsenal defender.

Team:
In goal
Jens Lehmann (German number 1) usually v steady but prone to moments of madness
Manuel Almunia, Spanish – did well in Champions League final, also prone to moments of madness

Defence
Ashley Cole, English left-back – just coming back from injury. Lifelong Gooner
Lauren, Cameroon right back - injured this season
Gael Clichy, French, left back – injured
Kerry Gilbert, English left back – injured (are you picking up a theme yet???)
Mathieu Flamini, French, midfielder and stand in left back – now injured!
Emmanuel Eboue, Ivory Coast right back
Sol Campbell, England, central defender - gave away 2 goals against West Ham, went AWOL and has only just got back into the team.
Kolo Toure, Ivory Coast, central defender - awesome this season as the mainstay of the defence
Philippe Senderos, Swiss, central defender who has improved as season progressed and been called up by the Swiss national team.
Pascal Cygan, French, central defender – yes you've guessed it, injured!

Midfield
Freddie Ljunberg, Swedish – fast and attacking. Fashion mad off the field and the face (or should that be the body!) foe Calvin Klein underwear
Robert Pires, French – just about to leave to go to Villarreal in a fit of pique as Arsenal only offered him a one year contract with the option to keep renewing it
Cesc Fabregas, Spanish – only just 19 and the find of the season. Stepped into Patrick Vieira's shoes with confidence and now been called up by the Spanish side. Wenger poached him from Barcelona!
Gilberto Silva, Brazilian world cup winner – defensive midfield known as "The Wall" in Brazil
Alexander Hleb, Belarusian – in his first season so still settling in but looks good
Jose Antonio Reyes, Spanish – attacking midfielder
Abou Diaby, French – signed in January, injured!

Strikers
Thierry Henry, French – premiership top scorer (again) just signed a 4 year contract after threatening to leave and causing mass panic!
Dennis Bergkamp, Dutch – retiring this season. He's a god – fans day at Highbury was his day!
Robin Van Persie, Dutch – prone to off-field problems
Emmanuel Adebayor, Togo – recent signing not played many games yet (similar to Kanu)
Theo Walcott, English – not played a game for Arsenal yet but in the England World Cup Squad
