The End of Peace and Tranquillity for Suffolk

Stansted Runway Two and Airspace changes will mean the End of Peace and Tranquillity for All of Suffolk.

The people of Suffolk need to wake up to the reality of what has now been set in train by the Application by BAA Stansted for a second Runway. Their target is to achieve 80 million passengers a year. This is 15 million more than Heathrow today. At the same time the owners of Luton Airport intend to grow to 25 million the same size as Stansted is now.

The air traffic over Suffolk will be three to four times what we are experiencing now. It will be 700 plus aircraft over an 18 hour day or one every one and a half minutes. We think this is a minimum it could easily be more. BAA Stansted have constantly campaigned to increase night flying between 1200 - 0600. To recover the vast investment we believe that this will become an imperative to them.

The present consultation on rearranging the controlled airspace and lowering the base heights only covers the situation now. As this massive expansion takes place airspace will have to be revised again and again. No one in Suffolk will avoid the noise nuisance affects of this.

The people of Suffolk have to act now.

Object to this application both as individuals and make your councillors and MP’s act on your behalf too. You have until the 26th.June 2008 to do so. Details from Uttlesford District Council.   http://www.uttlesford.gov.uk/

The present airspace plans should be opposed to force changes that will mitigate the noise from low flying jets. We refer you to our letter to councils and the NATS web site for full details.  HYPERLINK "http://www.consultation.nats.co.uk" www.consultation.nats.co.uk
