JULY NEWS
CHILDREN
Heavy rains delayed the return of some children who were a long way from the village with their families, but they are all back now. We are delighted to report the recruitment of a lady teacher and warden who will live on the site and specifically help take care of the younger children. The cost, on an “all found” basis is just £12 per month. Your money goes a long way in Trichy.
We are now officially registered as THE BREAKTHROUGH TRUST (INDIA) registered number 1119749, which will make the reclaiming of Gift Aid easier. Following this we have also been able to open a formal Trust Account with Nat West. Unfortunately they will not allow us to simply transfer the existing Standing Orders for all those generous people who are supporting the Orphanage with regular payments. We will therefore be asking you to sign new Standing Orders. In the meantime the existing orders will continue and we will switch the funds over between the accounts.
WATER SUPPLYThe new bore hole is in and working. A good supply was found at 250 feet and the pump installation is up and running.
TOILET BLOCKWork on the Toilet Block is underway now that the water supply is in place. Good progress has also been made with the transfer of funds from Rotary Foundation and we hope to hear soon that they have been received in the special bank account set up for this project by Trichy Rotary Club.
FUND RAISINGThrough Reading Maiden Erlegh Rotary we received £900, the profit from the sale of programmes for the Wokingham Woodley & Earley Primary Schools Concert at the Hexagon on June 17th “Celebrating 60 Years of Music for All”. This is a very generous donation and it is hoped that it can be followed up by establishing contact between some of the children.
Alton Rugby Cub is holding a BBQ and Dance on Saturday 25th August for the benefit of the Orphanage. Andy and Lisa Hayward and Geoff and Charlotte Morris are organising it and tickets can be obtained through Leslie, Charlotte’s father
DESKS AND TABLESA donation has been received to purchase 10 Desks and Tables for the main classroom and these have been ordered.
LESLIE AND JANET’S’ VISIT JULYLeslie and Janet are visiting the Orphanage in July. They are taking with them a Camera for the Warden, so that we can have regular pictures of progress and a CD Player so that the children can listen to stories in English. They are hoping to bring back some profiles and photographs of children who would like to find a pen pal in England.
