WARNING !!!! Liverpool street station

Last night i was informed by some customers that when departing the stansted express at liverpool street station ,they where approached by a number of men asking them if they where looking for a cab .These men are illegal touts and should not be trusted under any circumstance.They drive unsafe ,uninsured cars and are often criminals.

Real black cabs can be found in liverpool street and in the evening there are marshals to help you.I would suggest if you are traveling to london and do not know what a london taxi looks like ,you should google image search "black cab".

   DO NOT PUT YOUR SAFETY AT RISK ,ALWAYS USE A BLACK CAB

Example 2   Theatreland  to Churchill hotel

Example 3  Night club in the city of london to greenman roundabout

                Black cab  £30

                tout  £45 

All the above fares are actual prices that have been quoted to the public , who wisely declined and then got a black cab 

COMMONSENCE SHOULD TELL YOU THE SAFEST ,CHEAPEST ,QUICKEST WAY AROUND LONDON IS IN A BLACK CAB

WARNING - Richshaws hang around theatres looking for tourists to rip off

             - Touts hang around nightclubs looking for people who are a little worse for wear ,as these make easier targets to rip off (ladies should be extra careful ,and under no circumstances get into a car with a tout )

Hire matthews black cab on a fixed rate

Do you think you might need a London Licensed Black Cab for the day or half a day?  Or do you have a special evening function to attend that you will be needing a cab to and from?  How about asking for a fixed rate?  This could be a cheaper and more reliable option.

You can arrange for the cab to collect you from a specified destination, that cab will then be at your beck and call for a specified time period, so no need to worry about waiting around in the rain until another cab comes along, especially if you have more than one trip to make.

Alternatively, are you a business that could earn bonus points with customers, or staff, by having a black cab on a retainer for their use? If so, a fixed rate could be negotiated.

The miminim this option is available is for is 3 hrs, there is no maximum.

TIPS FOR USING BLACK CABS

Do s

 Hold your hand up high or preferable wave a news paper or umbrella.

Stand on a busy well lit road.

If you are having trouble finding a cab try going to a restaurant or theatre where people will be likely to be getting out of cabs.

If possible stand on the correct side of the road for the direction you will be travelling.

All of London’s top restaurant and hotels will hail a cab for you.

Have money available for the fare as getting the cab driver to stop at a cash point will increase the cost of the journey.

 If you want to go a particular way feel free to tell the driver at the start and he will be happy to go your way. 

Don’ts

 Stand in a bus shelter (the cab driver will think you are trying to stop a bus).

Whistle (8 million people in London it’s impossible to tell who whistled).

Don’t stand on crossings as cabs can not stop there.

Don t stand next to someone else who’s hailing a cab as this just causes problems when both parties try to get in the same cab.

Don’t have takeaways /cans of beer in hand.

Don’t get disheartened or angry if the cab driver does not see you, there will be another cab coming round the corner in a minute.

Don t put your feet up on the seats as this is considered bad manners.

There is room for a gentleman to sit in the back without removing his top hat

No person who knows he is suffering from a notifiable disease may enter a cab without notifying the driver

A person who dishonestly obtains services( eg hiring of a cab ), by deception is guilty of an offence

(unlimited fine and 5 years imprisonment - theft act 1978)
