Next Match - 29th September - Chubb vs. Finlay B
All
Here's our second chance to beat a Finlay team with the next game of the season being against Finlay B at Home on Saturday 29th September.
Kick off will be at 10.15am and the grass has been cut!!.
Unfortunately I am away this coming weekend, which even more unfortunately means that Josh is also away, as is Jake (my eldest, AKA our new referee), but we're hoping some new lads will come along next weekend to join the squad.
In my absence, Jason (from last year) will be standing in for me - and I just know he'll be desperate to win!!! - you'll find him from the picture below:

Good luck everyone, keep doing those Maradonna excercises!

First Match Of The Season
Chubb 1 : Finley 4
Finley A have always been a force to be reckoned with and in this, Chubb’s first match of the season, they were no exception.
Undoubtedly the 40 minute long match, on long grass was a bit of a shock to the system for more than a couple of Chubb players. Nevertheless, they played their legs off and the final score of 1 : 4 didn’t do the efforts of the Chubb team justice.
The players gelled really well from the start and didn’t look like a team who had never played together. The team was excellently captained for the first time by Cameron, who did a great job organising his men and there were several good shots at goal, but unfortunately the only one that made it past the Finley goal keeper was a cracking shot from Sam.
Luke did some superb defending along with Sebastian who never lost pace throughout the game and deservedly won this week’s Man of the Match trophy.
The red hot faces at the end of the match indicated just how hard Chubb worked, notably Chris, Jonny, Sam and Josh who maintained consistent pressure.
A special well done to Luke, Chris and Sebastian in their first game for Chubb and we hope to see all three of them back next weekend on freshly cut grass!
Well played to everyone.

Saturday 22nd - Home, 10am Kick Off
We start our quest for the 2007 World Cub Cup (OK, slight exaggeration!) this coming Saturday the 22nd September 2007, 10am kick off, at home against Finlay A.
Home is Bolling Road Sports Fields about 1m West of Tesco's, as seen on the following map if you're unfamiliar with it:
It would really help me if you could drop me a quick email and let me know if you (or your son ;-)) will be playing.
See you on Saturday - don't be late!

Kit - What to bring?
We have enough kit for the team, so generally this will be shared out across the regular players. However, as we sub on and off in each match (so everyone gets to play), the tops will be shared across the whole team.
What to bring with you:
It gets cold throughout the season, so staying warm is the most important thing. Therefore, please always try to bring the following with you:
Spare T-Shirt (or double layer)
Jumper
Gloves
Wooley hat
Football Boots
Coat
If you do not have actual Chubb kit, then wear any football kit. If you can, try to get as close to Blue and Yellow/Green as possible, but any is fine.
See you on the pitch!

Addingham Match Postponed
Hello everyone
Unfortunately, it's Addingham Cub's first week back this week, and they haven't yet seen the squad to organise who might be playing this year. Therefore, I'm afraid we've postponed the match, to be re-arranged and played later.
A new posting will be put up shortly regarding the next match taking place at HOME against Finlay A on the 22nd September.
Keep practising!

A HUGE Thankyou
2006-07 - The Season of The Dark Destroyer
We must finish last year with a huge THANKYOU to Jason (AKA The Dark Destroyer)...
...for his passion, drive and determination to succeed against ALL (:-)) odds, for bringing the team through to the most gripping Semi-Finals, and ultimately the Final, in the history of Chubb - what a fantastic end to a stunning season.
The Team...
...played a remarkable series of matches to show they are a real force to be reckoned with within the World of Cub football!, not to mention the Premiership! Being separated into two teams, requiring individual, and highly strategic management and direction...
...they played their legs off to reach a gripping quarter final which ended in victory on penalty shoot-outs, which I'm sure no-one will ever forget...
...(William, you deserve a special mention for such superb goal keeping!) and on to the Finals to be pipped at the post at the end of extra time.
But above all, well done Jason, you've created a hard act to follow and no doubt we'll be calling on you for your advice, support and expertise going forward (like, "How many players are there in each side again?", "Do you have a rule book you can lend me?" and "Which bat do we use in this sport again?").
Now Jason, you can go back to listening to music and wearing your wigs:
A huge thank you from all of us!,
The Chubb Team
