Matches Confirmed for tomorrow

Hello!

Spoken to the other Managers, and we've decided to meet up tomorrow and see what the fields are like when we get there - if we only have short games, at least we'll get some footy in!

Therefore, the plan is as follows:

0900 KICK OFF AGAINST ADDINGHAM AWAY - see the following link for location.. It is played on the football pitch BEHIND Addingham First School - Bolton Road, the first right turn after the Fleece as you're heading up Addingham mainstreet - then continue along Bolton Road for about half a mile until the school is found on the left.  Park in the car park and walk around the back of the school to the field.

1030 KICK OFF AGAINST MENSTON at HOME

We're obviously mindful of the beautiful weather conditions right now, but that they are a bit hard under foot.  Let's get together and see how it goes.

Please make sure your boy is warm! - gloves, several layers, tracksuit bottoms under their shorts etc.

See you tomorrow.

Richard

ADDINGHAM MATCH POSTPONED

Chubb vs. Addingham

The match this weekend will be Chubb against Addingham at HOME.  Kick off at 0910am - yes, ten past 9.

I am away in Hong Kong this weekend, so Johnny's dad, Martin Robertshaw, will be taking the reigns this weekend - thank you Martin!  I think we can expect a Mourinho kind of approach to this one... :-)

Good luck guys - text me the result when your done!

Richard

MATCH POSTPONED!

Due to various other sporting events this weekend, the Menston Team are unable to get a team together for tomorrow's match - therefore, we have postponed the event.

I will let you know when it will re-appear in the fixture list.

My apologies for the short notice.

Do you need a lift?

Hi, If your son wants to play, but doesn't have a lift, please let me know - I have space for 2 more in my car.

Special Guest Appearance

Saturday's match saw the appearance of a very special guest - Paul Merton! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Merton).

Paul had heard of the Ilkley Chubb's through his showbiz circles, apparently being regularly discussed within the corridors of the beeb.

Thanks Paul!

Match Notice - 24th November

Chubb vs Menston

Due to an event that is happening on the Bolling Road (our Home) pitch, and a match that Finlay are playing there on Saturday, our Home Match against Menston is having to be played at THEIR HOME GROUND.

So, the match this coming Saturday is taking place IN MENSTON, and because some of the boys in their team are taking part in the Bolling Road event, kick off needs to be early - so please be there and ready to kick off at 9am - yes, 9am - sorry about that!

Match Report - 17th November

Finlay A 2 - 1 Chubb

Finlay A, once again, managed to score an early goal from a well taken corner, and defend well through the first half to head into half time 1 - 0 up.

Chubb fought hard to break through their defence with some great shots at goal from Josh (who probably played his best game yet), Chris, Dan and Johnny, but despite the efforts of all the forwards in driving the ball up the pitch, we were unable to get past their defences.

Finlay regrouped at half time, and positioned themselves well again at the beginning of the second half to drive home another goal to put us 2 - 0 down.  For most teams, this would have affected moral to the extent where they would never have stood a chance of coming back - but not for the Ilkley Chubbs.  Finding some additional strength from somewhere, they ran into overdirve and took control of the match, with Dan finally getting our only goal from the half way line.

Defence once again require a special mention, with Tom, Michael, Seb, Luke and Jacob providing a solid wall which is proving very hard for any team to penetrate.  Midfield with Dan, Josh and Chris have been doing a superb job keeping the ball moving up to Sam, Cameron and Johnny up front.

Our weakness at the moment is taking shots at goal - we seem to wait for the perfect opportunity to be presented.  We need to take more chances and more shots at goal, defence is strong enough to stop any mishaps or retaliations from any failed attempts, but we have to make those shots.

Man of the Match went to the hardest worker and the ultimate goal scorer on the day - Dan.

Parents, once again you've excelled, I've ordered the Grandstand for the touchline given that there are now so many that come along in support :-) - thank you.

Looking forward to seeing you all this coming Saturday.

Match Notice - 17th November

This weekends match will be at HOME against Finlay A.

Kick-off is at 0915 (sorry!), so drag 'em out of bed early! :-)

As with all the remaining matches of this season, we have to win!

See you on Saturday morning!

Thanks

Richard
