Going back even further....

....earlier this month it was 1992....now, i am going back to 1990 when roller world was the place to be.

The skates are serviced, cleaned and ready to go for a roller disco on Friday!!

Where's brother in law Benny???

Here

Why?  He is doing this.

Still here

just not up to much.....well, apart from high class clothes shopping.  This particular model had her arms on back to front.

Carter USM Mug (final post on the subject.....)

So.....being over 30, i am not sure i can get away with wearing 'band t-shirts' anymore (unless it is a very special occasion, like the concert).  So, i decided not to buy a replacment t-shirt and bought myself a mug.

Carter USM videos (plus the Sultans of Pin FC)

Finally, the videos are here.....

And, here is the classic 'where's my jumper' by the Sultans of Ping FC:

"dancing at the disco, bumper to pumper, wait a minute, where's my jumper"

Carter USM last ever gig (apparently) - November 02, 2007

So....some how, i found myself stood outside the Brixton Academy waiting for a friend i had not really spoken to for about 15 years......

Carter split up 10 years ago....and this was billed as a last final farewell gig.  The Sultans of Ping FC were supporting.  I will admit that i only know one of their songs....but it is a very famous one - where's my jumper - what a tune!!!

What a concert - a slight change from Kate Nash - there was no-one in ballet pumps - just lots of middle aged men, shouting the lyrics as loud as possible and loving shouting 'you fat bastard'.

Carter belted out all the classic tunes for two hours - Jen and i danced like fools till we were ready to drop!

Here is the moment when they finally left the stage....

....and yes, my 2nd favourite t shirt made another appearance:

Thank you to Jen for getting the tickets (and here slack friends for not going)!!!

Live at brixton, carter usm!

Live at brixton, carter usm!

I am '30 something'

Once again I decided not to throw my 2nd favourite t-shirt out - it still has some life left in it.  Where as, my 1st favourite t-shirt has been demoted to the rag bag - but this is for reasons of being so fragile, hanging it on a coat hanger would cause it to rip further!  The 3rd favourite t-shirt still has many years life left in it….

Anyway, during the house tidy, I also found some old photos…..most of which show me wearing the said 2nd favourite t-shirt - these were taken in its prime - fresh out of the bag in 1992.

Here is a brief history of the t-shirt:
Bought 1992
Worn extensively during the 90s
Demoted to being worn only under ski and sail clothing
Further demotion to being used for gardening/building

A day after the house tidy, after Facebooking a mates first girlfriend (is that wrong?) - I now find myself going to a Carter USM reunion gig!!   Just how excited am I!!

Question is…..do I buy a replacement t-shirt…..or do I accept I am 32, and wearing long sleeve band t-shirts is just not cool?  Or do I get a '40 something' shirt made up?

Bowen Weekend of fun!!!

Drinks in Putney with friends:

Ski show (thanks Matty):

Then the ballet - La Bayadère - an great night of watching men in tights!!!  10GBP tickets - cheaper than the cinema!!!

Kate Nash v2.0 - Oxford Zodiac, October 25, 2007

Except the music, the first concert was a bit rubbish!  The venue was VERY hot, most of the audience spent most of the time chatting to mates and Miss Nash was generally in a not very good mood!

I already had tickets for the Oxford date, and decided to still go to get a better experience.

Having no mates, I could not give the spare ticket away - in the end, I sold it on ebay - £21 to Jason.

Jason - he was obviously a big fan…..when I arrived at the venue at 1845, he was on the phone to me a little concern that he had was not in possession of his ticket.  He was first in the queue and later on, I saw him on the TV screens - front row, center spot, big black back of head to camera.

The venue was rammed full of women - average age of 16 all wearing those soft ballet shoes things or ug boots - luckily, there were some slightly older people at the back - I hung with them.

A much better gig - and the band is now less the terrible female violin player - she has been replaced by a guitarist - phew!
