Kate Nash v2.0 - Oxford Zodiac, October 25, 2007

Except the music, the first concert was a bit rubbish!  The venue was VERY hot, most of the audience spent most of the time chatting to mates and Miss Nash was generally in a not very good mood!

I already had tickets for the Oxford date, and decided to still go to get a better experience.

Having no mates, I could not give the spare ticket away - in the end, I sold it on ebay - £21 to Jason.

Jason - he was obviously a big fan…..when I arrived at the venue at 1845, he was on the phone to me a little concern that he had was not in possession of his ticket.  He was first in the queue and later on, I saw him on the TV screens - front row, center spot, big black back of head to camera.

The venue was rammed full of women - average age of 16 all wearing those soft ballet shoes things or ug boots - luckily, there were some slightly older people at the back - I hung with them.

A much better gig - and the band is now less the terrible female violin player - she has been replaced by a guitarist - phew!

Marin Dusk 'Til Dawn 2007

Due to sporting injuries sustain here - and the fact that i have not been running or jumping for months now, i did NOT take part in the 12hour mpountain bike race - instead, i handed food and drink to Richard as he went round and round the 12m circuit for 12 hours.

Thank you to Joolze for the picture above

Roland's Slab Laying Lesson (AKA Puma Program Ofice Community Day at PARC Essex)

This year's community project was to help finish a path.

Arrival was 0830 (well....except for Sean and Roland).  First thing first - a bit of standing around and then quite soon after, a tea break

Soon after this was second tea break with breakfast - thank you Paul!!

Things were going well, Kieran danced whilst Mark pointed at stuff.  Angela made a cracking job on the garden front and for reasons unknown to me, Twiggy mooned us all.

If Twiggy was not mooning us, he was doing his favourite hobby of puns.  This is a piece of classic Twiggy:

The LL6 team then went 'tilt testing' in the GCP:

The first slab was layed - it was agreed (a rare thing amongst FMC employees) that it was a little low!!

Tea break 2 was taken and the Roland of the Drew arrived (apparently he went to see a man about stacking cars).

Roland was a one man slab laying machine.  He had a 'system' - a long heavy piece of timber.  Slab laying paced improved - not quite to the pace 'that a man can walk at' but not far off.  The rain started and by lunch we were wet.  Thanks to Angela for lunch - and happy birthday.

Kieran had recently attended a health and safety course.

Mark 'finessed' whilst Ian refused to spin Angela and Roland laid the last slabs.

There was a major pile up of various vehicles, but no injuries:

All finished and a team photo (less Twiggy, who was wet and Darren, who was in theory, on vacation)
