You know when things start going well...
Today i did i very stupid thing, for today i dived into the pool with my phone in my pocket :( This really sucks as i like my phone and so far i have been able to stay away from P-J and Danny's competition - but this is it i'm officially in and may i say I HOPE I LOSE. In other slightly annoying news we were preparing to sell our car to one of those dodgy dealers to get rid of it and fly to Melbourne or wherever, but during our preperation Goode gets a voicemail from a guy thats interested in the car - Good news - so we found the guy let him and his partner take a look and they seemed interested but needed aircon to be working and so said they would contact us later to let us know, we haven't heard from them which means we still have a car we're not sure if we are going to sell to them and we're not leaving Darwin as soon as i would of liked - BAD.
Altho i have met a nice lady who works in one of the sports stores so i may just go talk to her all day lol had a pic too but that was on the phone - nevermind
David
p.s. any w800i kicking around i am interested!

Alone in Brisbane
Hey peeps, hope ay are all ok and not frozen to death (unless im in your will then i will allow you to be so i can get some much needed money lol) well i thought i should update ya on what i am doing. I got a crazy idea to goto Brisbane on ma todd, which is good i suppose. I am currently staying at the Palace Central (which i'm sure you will look up, mum) which is a nice backpackers by backpackers standard - which is pretty low! I am also currently working at the Palace Central for free accomodation and free food, well i think i am getting stiffed here! I work six hours a day for one free night, now a night is only $27, if i were to be paid for the job i would get $15p/h now times that by six and ya get...alot more than $2-ing7!! I bought some healthy food - cereal (kellogs variety pack), apples, bananas and oranges o n some cookies to satisfy my sugar needs!! I also goto Coles (Asda) just before they close and get a pie for $1 (or 40p) as it will go off that night which is good n cheap. Brisbane is a nice city, it is very similar to Sydney (it has a Botonical gaardens and a road called George Street the leads to sed gardens) i walked around abit the day i got here, and went to the gardens, they are really nice and look over the Brisbane River where i sat (as this is free to do in most countries) and looked at the boats and kaykas going by and a guy trying to climb a cliff on the opposite side. That is pretty much it for now but i will try and keep ya updated.
To my Family - i miss you and love you, to my Friends - i miss you and love some of you, but not all of you and to Steve - HAHA your a Walrus!
well take care and keep it real

Perth to Darwin in 10 days - 4021km, 28 frogs, 4 lizards and 2 birds but we made it
1st Day - Perth to Geraldton
We set off from Perth at around 2pm to drive north to Exmouth in search of jobs, it was a none eventful day really, Woode drove while we watched a couple of films and p-j played on his new pc game, at around 9pm we finally pulled over to stop for the night by the side of the road, not the most comfortable sleep in the world!!
2nd Day - Geraldton - Monkey Mia - Exmouth
After a poor nights sleep we awoke at around 8am to start driving again, but before we could go we had to grab the esky from outside which unfortunatley was swarmed with big ass wasps, so we sent David out as he's not too important lol! We continued our drive north towards Exmouth but P-J and Woode decided to take a slight detour to a tourist attraction called Monkey Mia, small being referred to 2 hours there and back!! At Monkey Mia we pulled up to a small beach with a small gathering by the sea, so we got out the car and went down to see what was going on, turns out there were wild dolphins there waiting to be fed, well we walked up and stood there for about 30 secs when David was chosen to feed one of the dolphins, which was funny as the other peple had been there for about 10mins lol. Suprisingly feeding the dolphin wasn't as fun as it sounds as the dolphin grabbed the fish before david had chance to put the fish in the water as instructed, with the fish gone he was sent back to the beach so someone else could have a go - but David will still taunt his everyone about it. We left Monkey Mia after a quick bite to eat and got back on track for Exmouth. On the way P-J made up a game of how many cars will we pass from there to carnavon, which was 200kms away, after david bet 12, danny 15, woode 27 and p-j 33 we set about counting the cars david was going quite well for 50ks until a traffic-jam (meaning 3 cars following each other) caused him to be out of the picture, in the end there was 40 cars in 200kms!!! We arrived in Exmouth at about 830 and had a quick drive around. We found a campsite, grabbed some food from the local garage and drove 20 km out of Exmouth to stay the night in the car again.
3rd & 4th day - Exmouth - Ningaloo Reef
After another night of uncomfortableness, except for Woode who was smart enough to put his tent up, we got up again by 8am and decided to book into the campsite before going to look for some jobs, there were no jobs! So we decided we would stay another night anyway and spend one day at the pool which was awesome as it was HUGE and about 3.5m deep, and the next day we would go snorkling in the Ningaloo Reef, which some people say is better then the Great Barrier Reef!!(but that may be because it's only a few 100 metres from the shore and you can easily swim there). We set off at 10 am, with some snorkling gear we rented in Exmouth, and went along the Ningaloo Reef, starting at the end, or beginning, and going towards the middle, the first place we stopped was incredible and had a jetty that we could do some jumps off (click here for Video), next we went to Torquise Bay where we saw some even more incredble fish and coral, and Woode swam with a Turtle - now that rocks! Then it got cloudy and the rest of the coral we went to see didn't quite look as nice and all the swimming was exhausting, so we went back to camp around 6pm and headed to town for some food, we ended up eating at a random burger bar from the back of someones caravan - that was like the best burgers eva, we spotted a tour bus parked up at a local motel and knowing Canadian Dave was supposed to be there that night, thanks to J Robinson, David went over to find him, and find him he did, we went to the local pub named appropriatly as 'the pub' and had a few drinks with C Dave and his missus, reminicing on our time in Bondi Beach and saying our - hopefully not last - goodbyes as Dave leaves for canada soon.
5th day - Exmouth - Karratha
We left Exmouth in the morning hoping to reach Port Headland, unfortunately our drive took us to Karratha where we hung around to long in the nice airconditioned mall, mainly as our cars aircon had stopped working. Karratha seemed a nice place but we were suppose to be going to Port Headland so we eventually got on our way. We spent another night in the car an hour or so from our destination
6th & 7th day - Port headland - Broome
Early start and we were in Port Headland before most the shops opened. Luckily Woollies wasn't closed and we stocked up on some supplies before finding a garage to look at our air con, just a re-gas we thought. Unfortunetaly we found a mechanic that had a quick look and told us our compresor was gone. Deciding we should sell the car soon we hatched a plan to travel the rest of the way upto darwin and offload the car there. So we set off north to the next destination, Broome. We got there just before dusk and found a campsite for a couple of days so we could have a wash. on the first night we sat and listened to england win the cricket and shouted HOOZAH at the aussies!!
The camp site was really nice with an award winning pool, for the day rest David, Danny and Woode went into Broome for a like around while P-J stayed with the car at the campsite and attempted to fix it, first he replaced the cigarette lighter as that had blown on the journey with the one he nicked out of Holly, then he attempted the unopenable boot, within half an hour it was open and fixed with a pen knife and a pair of plyers, we were told it would take half a day at a mechanics and they have the right tools!! We spent the rest of the day by the award winning pool and went to bed after watching a film. David thinks Broome is one place he would visit again if he had the chance as he's sure we missed some of it.
8th day- Broome - Katherine
Drove for hours and didn't see too much, got to Katherine around 4pm, went to Katherine Gorge but couldnt see to uch but there was a climb up the katherine gorege to get a good view so we did that, it was hot n steep, but the view was good, we decided to throw rocks from the view point into the river it took six seconds for the rocks to hit to give you an idea of how high up we were, we also found out if ya shouted it echoed, so that wsa fun for 10 minutes! Then we went down the mountain and had some showers with some toads, the showers were great as they were cold, we set off toward litchfield park before settling at a rest area for the night
9th day - Litchfield National Park and Darwin
We got up to a very misty environment, packed up our tent and carried on our drive to Litchfield Park. After an hour an a half we got to the first attraction within the park, The Magnetic termite mounds. The mounds are quite impressive and can grow to 6 metres big and lie on a north-south axis to take advantage of the sun. There was a large field of these that looked like an old graveyard. Unlucky for us we found out that as it is wet season the majority of the attractions were closed. Of the open ones we headed to Buley Rockhole first. This was a river that ran through a large rock area and had formed 5 or 6 pools. The water was cool and clean and we found a couple of rocks to jump into the pools from. This is when the inevitable happened and one of us got hurt - that's right Mrs Barloga your son dove head first into a rock! Luckily there was another tour there and their guide was a St. John's ambulance member so we let him deal with Danny while we carried on jumping in to prove it was just him silly enough to get hurt.
With Danny seemingly ok we decided to go to Tolmer falls and look at the water falling down a large cliff into the other part of the river. This was a very hot activity as we had to walk 1km there and back, but it was worth it. Our next destination was Wangi Falls - which usually is open for swimming but not today, something to do with flooding and crocs. Would of been nice to swim here the dual falls were impressive. By now we were hot and sticky so we headed back past Buley Rockpool to Florence Falls. There was a short walk down 135 steps to get here but at last we got to swim in a plunge pool. We were disapointed tho as there wernt any rocks to jump off so after a decent swim we decided to head back to Buley Rockpool and try out the pools near the top that we had ignored earlier on. We spent a good few hours there jumping into a deep pool (3-4 metres) from about 5-6 feet. We were willing to stay there for a lot longer but a thunder storm hit the river and we thought it probably best if we left and found somewhere to stay in darwin.
That pretty much sums up our drive through the north of Western Australia and into the TopEnd (Northern Teritory). There was alt of time spent sat in a car and the scenery was quite similiar but we had fun. We may head back to some of the places we missed such as - Coral Bay to do an eco tour and swim with sharks, the Kimberley's as you can't drive through the area and apparently it's pretty much untouched and viewable by scenic flight, finally Kakadu National Park which is a large rainforest type place which would be best scene i the Dry season so we may have to come back then.
As for now we are in the process of selling the car, P-J is flying to Brisbane on Monday and we will be rid of him for a month (big smiles all around), Danny is planning to sty in Darwin until April whereas Woode and David plan to head to Melbourne as soon as the car is sold so they can watch the Melbourne GP and goto the big Ferrari day there putting on - even tho David think F1 racing is boring he's going to say that he has been which most people can't - also there are some good bands in town and he's hoping to see them too.
David, P-J and Woode (who contibuted "I Drove")
And so starts Febuary
Hey thought as my felow travellers can't be bothered to update this i migh as wll continue. Todays the first of Feb and it's come quite quickly. After our 10 dys work back in Margaret River we haeded back north to the capitol of WA, Perth. Here we intended to find out information about mining work and try get a job under the land of down under. This proofed fruitless so we decided to change tack and all took a course on the Responsible Service of Alcohol - which would allow us to work in bars and other places that sell liquor. Needless to say w all paassed with 100% partly because of our huge brains and the fact our teacher told us all the answers as we went along.
We hope to be leaving Perth soon to head further north in search of a bit of work before we head around the top of Australia back to the east coast. our only delay being Citibank who aren't very good at sending replacement cards and P-J won't leave until he has his new bank card. Not too fussed tho as it means we can continue baking in the sun around the pool at our campsite - my only problem is i'm reading books to fast and soon will run out and be bored in the 40 degree sunshine. Never mind, hey it could be raining
I hope to be able to report on more interesting activities in the near future but for now take care and wrap up!!
David
p.s. i just remembered we went to see the Perth Skyworks last friday as part of Australia day, The fireworks were pretty good but the lightning in the back ground out shone even the big finale

Merry Christmas
Slightly late but - MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE - this is how my Aussie Xmas went....
After watching Bad Santa, which finished nicely at a few minutes to midnight i decided to go find some signal inorder to text the family back home an early Merry Christmas. On the way in the moonlit campsite i noticed some dark shapes hopping through the trees, knowing full well what they were i pursued for a photo. As the kangaroos grazed i crept in but even tho i got as close as 3 or 4 yards it was too dark to get a good photo so i let them eat in peace. After walking to the road and sending my texts i headed back to bed and was almost trampled by another kangaroo who shot across the pathway 2 feet in front of me. Between that and getting to the tent i saw two more kangaroos and a couple of possums who were still in a tree that some french campers fed them sandwiches in earlier on. It's been a good christmas so far and i haven't gone to bed yet.
Now in what may turn out to be the latest i ever get up on a Christmas morning we slowly got out of bed somewhere between 9 and 10am. After a quick who had done what recently we decided, democratively of course, that Woode would be cooking breakfast and so woke him up as we were getting hungry. Breakfast was more breakslow as it took almost 2 hours from start to finish, but we did pack the car for our big day out while the food cooked. At roughly midday we were ready to go to the beach, but not before i saw a Kookabura shoot through the trees.
Our chosen beach for Christmas day was called Eagles Bay in Dunsborough. It was a bit quieter than we thought it would be, but that didn't matter as the sun was high in the sky and our beer on ice. the first thing we did was set up our tent to store our beer and pull some Crimbo crackers to get everything started. Next we searched for someone to take a picture of us all in the sea, so we took our flip-flops off for a second before putting them straight back on before we burnt our feet on the sand. We managed to disturb a nice old lady's christmas who took our photo and was rewarded with a kiss from danny for her troubles. For the next few hours we played in the sea to stay cool, first with a fowm football (which unfortunately struck P-J in his balls, aaahhhh) When we were bored of that we grabbed the cricket bat and ball and proceeded to smack the ball out to sea where three of us tried to catch it. This game was so good the family near us who were playing beach cricket obviously realised it was a boring gsport and so copied us POM's hitting balls to sea. During this period i recieved a sharp pain down the side of my back which felt like a Jellyfish sting but i didn't see any so presumed it was all in my head.
We had lunch for about half an hour - with lunch consisting of beer, cider or pepsi and a bag of Shortbread biscuits to share followed by a bag of Choc chip fudge cookies, agian to share but i was very much against but it was christmas. We spent lunch discussing our favourite foods, which turned out to be a hard and inconclusive.
At the end of lunch Woode and I played catch with the tennis ball in the sea for 15 minutes before P-J and Danny joined us with the bat, so we returned to our previous game. Almost an hour of P-J hitting the ball too far to sea for Danny and Woode to catch had gone by when i retreated to shallower water which is when i noticed a large black shape glide past me. After shouting and waving for a few seconds for the others to to help me find it again P-J spotted something further down the beach, which was backed up by a lady on the sand spotting it and indicating to us where it was travelling. By this point Danny and Woode had swam near enough to hear what had happened and we all chased after the mysterious dark shape. Roughly 300 yards down the beach the others caught up, and confirmed what i had guessed after 200 yrds and given up chasing, that the black shape was some type of ray 1.5 metres in diameter. With all that excitment we decided to have another drinks break as Danny argued with P-J and Woode about the school of fish they saw on the walk back - Danny claimed there were at least a thousand fish as opposed to the couple of hundred the other two saw.
A couple of beers later we decided to have a go at the Aussie thing of playing beach cricket, but to make things more enjoyable for ourselves we bowled under arm and hit catchers only - with no runs scored with hits to the offside due to the two foot drop of sand from baech to sea level. A drop which Danny forgot all about as he dived for a catch and disappeared down the bank (without catching the ball!!) We did manage a couple of "great" catches, mainly by me as when it comes to cricket thats all i can do - and not to be out done by Danny i alsoe dove for catch which resulted in me sliding off the upper beach into the sea. Having played enough cricket we went for a swim to reomve the sand from our shorts, again with a ball so we wernt to bored out there. Danny, P-J and I performed some handstands in the sea and did dodgy wrestling moves to keep us entertained. This is when i stood on something in the sand that moved from under my foot - Another ray! a small sand coloured one this time. At first i was all "wow another ray" but then i remebered about the inch or so whip mark we found on my side where i was stung earlier and realised it must of been a sting ray mark my mood swung to "son-of-a-bitch, was it you who stung me earlier" and i tried to hit the ray with the tennis ball. This didn't work so we let it swim away with it's life in tact, and headed for dry land.
Back at our camp on the beach we informed Woode about the ray and started to finish off the last of our beer supply, as the sun descended behind the tree covered hill with it's million-dollar houses lighting up the shadows. This was when P-J decided we needed a picture of us all as the sunset, so he asked a guy sitting nearby if he would take a picture or two of us. Suprisingly the man agreed even after P-J told him we wouldn't be wearing any clothes for these shots - infact he got carried away and took 4 pictures using up our camara (sadly we have found out that he took NO pictures what so ever, so our asses will not be online, for now) Out of the four of us Danny was sadly the shyest, which may not of been helped by the family 150 yrds down the beach who gave a standing ovation to us in the middle of their cricket game - tho he says he was more concerned about his shorts not going back on.
I, however, used the oppurtinity to change shorts and decided to clean my sandy pair in the sea as an excuse to get a closer look at the lass walking up the beach. This is when i saw two HUGE fish in the shallows and with the use of my bare hands i managed to grab the pair of them during a manic struggle, before bounding up the beach to the others to show off my catch. They weren't as impressed as i hoped, something to do with the fact i caught two fish that were dead when i found them - so we took some pictures and i threw them back to sea and joined in withe thier conversation. About 20 minutes in to the chit-chat, with my back to sea, Danny burst out with "what the FUCK was that - it's a shark!?", not impressed i told him not to start bullshitting and get our hopes up - yet i still stilled turned around to make sure. Thats when i saw Danny's 'shark', "DOLPHIN" was the shout and we all sprinted to the ocean (i was slightly behind having regretted changing shorts and swiftly switching back) where a dolphin was zipping across the shallows. We gave chase for about a minute or so but those little fuckers are quick and we lost it in the dark. Deciding there was little light now nor anything that could top seeing a dolphin we packed up our camp and set off to ring our family and friends.
A couple of hours or ringing and driving we returned to our campsite with half an hour of christmas left. P-J went straight to sleep, Woode set his tent back up (on his own) as Danny and I went to put some things in the fridge and look for kangaroos. We managed to get split up as i hunted for a picture of a small kangaroo and danny followed another in the shodows. He came to get me to look at his kangaroo, which i agrred to after he scarred mine away. We both crept slowly to the grazing mother kangaroo that Danny had found with a Joey in her pouch. Spotting a great photo op we got as close as we could and at about 5 yards off with the camara poised to shoot we heard some rather loud thuds coming towards us in the dark. Ahead of us at aout 10 yrds was what we presumed to be Daddy-Roo, he was Huge. "that's one scarry kangaroo" as we simultaneosly took a big stride back. Not to be deterred we crept back in to about 3 yrds and i finally got a good picture of a wild kangaroo - unfortunately it wasn't the big one nor did i get a shot with the joey in but you could actually see a kangaroo! In the excitement i dropped my phone and scarred off the kangaroos so we decided to hit the sack.
Well that was my Christmas day and it was awesome. Never in england did i manage to see 9 Kangaroos, 2 Possums, a Kookabura, 2 types of ray (getting Stung by one) and see a wild Dolphin. All i hope is all of your Christmas' were just as good. Thank you for reading this far and Have A Great NEW YEARS
David
