cold, wet, muddy and great!

Well another visit - this time to measure all the barns and my enthusiam for this 'project' is growing.

There I was, rain pouring through the roof(s) (what remains of them), wind and rain lashing at my face, covered in mud, tape measure in hand - with a BIG smile on my face. great.

view from the top.

So thanks to Google Earth when we got back and started to think about the design and layout of the the land we took these photos.

This one shows the view from directly above, we've outlined the buildings and land we are buying. The extra piece of land is shown with the blue line.

our first view...

This is what we first saw when we arrived back in early September with the agent.

As we said - a BIG pile of stones.

meant to be...

We've decided to start this blog as a chronicle of our experiences in finding, buying, renovating and I hope living in a barn in Brittany, France.

We've been looking off and on at 'broken down houses', as our oldest son calls them, for about 7 years now so when a series of events indicated it was 'meant to be' we took the plunge.

We put in an offer and after some haggling we had our offer accepted.

I then went over there with a good friend who has experience at building/renovation and after further discussion, and a beer, with the owner of the property we shook hands on a final deal which included a little more land.
