I never thought I would see a African American elected President in my life time. I can't begin to describe my feelings. However, the dems cannot fuck this up. It would be a shame if they squandered this opportunity to effect real change.

As far as the wingnut reaction - It is pretty scary. People are advocating assasination, overthrow of the government and other violent acts. I admit there are some nutjobs on the left but the venom from the right is astounding.

And to Bill Bennet - A big FUCK YOU. Obama's win doesn't mean that there is an end to rascism in the US. Go read Free Republic nimrod

I often wonder what my life would have been life if I had been diagonsed with bipolar disorder years ago. I know it is not productive. I wasn't and I made alot of mistakes in my life because of it. Still I have the coolest neighbors I could imagine - they say I have paid them the biggest complement they have ever gotten namely that they are the strangest people I now who can pass for normal.

I just wish I have gotten laid more often and didn't decide relationships were too much work after dating alcohoics and people who had more issues than I did. At least i realized that i couldn't help them at the expense of my own issues. I guess that is important.

So I go for my twice yearly checkup in July. The Doc indicates that I have a decay under an old crown/root canal, a cavity in the tooth with an ancient filling next to it and some other ancient fillings that needed to be replaced.

The game plan was to take care of the decay under the crown and take care of the cavity on the tooth next to it on one visit and replace the older fillings and set the new crown on the next. As nothing ever goes easy for me, when the Doc started working on the cavity, he discovered that the root was exposed. So hello root canal. So I have to spend too much time finding an endodontist that takes my insurance. Of course my soon to be ex-insurance doesn't cover root canals. My supplement dental plan does but it has a $$ limit.

So I show up at the Endontist with my xray. He takes one look and shows me where there is an issue with the older root canal. Not wanting to have to go back and since he had the time, he redid the old root canal as well as the new one. That's alot of time in the chair people.

I dutifully take my antibotics (luckily I didn't need the pain meds) and all is well. Except today, two weeks after the root canals, one of the teeth starts hurting. So it will be back to the Endontist.

Adding insult to injury as I was leaving the house, I noticed a dead mouse stuck in the framework of a metal basket I throw my keys and sunglasses in when I walk in the door. Now I am fairly certain that it wasn't there yesterday but a week or so ago, the two cats (see post on Ceridwn, Destroyer of Rodents) that are great mousers spent most of the day parked in front of the radiator the basket sits on. I keep telling myself that the little mouse corpse would have smelled pretty bad if it had been there any length of time. I made good use of the yardapault.

To respond to the question- How many christians feel it is okay to pick up a gun and kill people working at family planning clinics? No one religion has blood free hands at this point [okay I corrected a typo for this post- so sue me]

I tried to post my response on youtube quite a few times with no luck (all of them will probably show up at once making me look like more of an idiot than usual). In any case I wanted to respond and this approximates the final post(s):

There is too much generalization going on. There are as many muslims horrified by extremism as most (hopefully) christians [NB: I even provided a nice google search link to provide backup documentaqtion but of course I can't remember what the query was] As far as the question posed, what about the guy who shot up the Unitarian Church? Many Unitarians (but not all) identify themselves as christian. The attack was purely motivated on what the shooter belived a christian should be.

I also referenced those assholes at Westboro Baptist Church * who protest at the funerals of service men and women because they feel that 9/11 was God's punishment on the USA. For an intesting take on the Phelps family read the this article. Check out wiki link as well

* The church is filled with Fred Phelps' extremely litigious lawyer spawn [note: not all lawyers can be designated as spawn but in the case of the Phelps family, I think it applies] so if they sue me there isn't anything to get.

I posted pics of my recent trip to California/Colorado.

I loved staying at the spa in California. It was beautiful but way too expensive. I met some wild women out there. One of them has a hubby in a band. All in all I had a blast (and it was actually productive from a work perspective)

Colorado was interesting. The clouds looked so close. It just didn't have the lushness found in Maryland or Pennsylvania. I went hiking with my brother and couldn't hack more that about 2 miles before I had to turn back. I think I did okay in the 7 mile hike around Boulder.

I have never used it before. I was dragging stuff out of my garage that I was going to have 1-800-Junk haul away tomorrow when I decided to see if anyone would actually want some of it. The first item was a composting toilet that my brother Bob and I had gotten for our cabin and that my other brother didn't want to install (we ended up getting a pump tank eventually). Within 2 hours of posting the ad (as a freebie), I got 27 responses. Thus encouraged, I put up an Ikea bedframe (again for free - someone's coming to get it tomorrow) and a trek mountain bike (for actual cash money) that was picked up within three hours of the post.

I put some other stuff out there but since these are for $s, we'll see if they go. I just want the stuff gone so I may end up changing them to freebies.

I am no stranger to finding dead rodents in the house. Prior to Ceridwyn's arrival, I had three other cats who did their job in keeping the house mouse free. However, all of those poor mice were dispatched quickly and even more importantly kept in one piece.

Now I can't prove that she is the culprit but since she has come I have been seeing a disturbing trend in mouse corpses. Today's was the worst yet.

I spotted the remains under the dining room table. It no longer had a head to speak of. I very gingerly picked it up and performed my usual dead mouse disposal ritual - namely opening the front door and giving a the mouse a good fling. When I looked back under the table I noticed pieces - 3 paws, part of tail and chunks of stuff I really don't want to know more about.

Another disturbing detail is that the rodent had a very long tail. I am really not happy that it might have been a rat. However if it was one then, All Hail Ceridwyn, Destroyer of Rodents

Apparently some folks are all atwitter about plans to make Angels in America required reading in some high school in Illinois. Any time i hear about this kind of crap I can't help but wonder why these oh so concerned parents don't use the opportunity to actually discuss the issues with their kids.

Its as if they feel that their kid's faith (and it is usually conservative christians doing the whining) is so weak that it won't be strong enough to stand up against a fucking book or movie or song. Or maybe because they secretly realize that their little friend in the sky is really a delusion.

I jinxed myself on this. Quite a few people at work have gotten the cold or flu over the last few weeks. I mentioned that I hadn't had a cold in years so naturally I have gotten one.

It really bites because I have been trying to get my act together by going to the gym almost every day. Let's hope the cold doesn't drag on.

Insomnia

It has been going on for the last 6 days. I go to bed and wake up an hour later. I usually just toss and turn but tonight I just decided to get up and have some sleepytime tea.

I am not sure what is causing it. I don't feel like I've gone into a manic cycle, work is not nearly as stressful as it has been and I have finally started going back to the gym.

The getting up early and exercising was a dismal failure so I decided to go afterwork. There is a facility at the office so I don't have to drive anywhere and more importantly I don't have go home and go back out. Now I have just started this week so we'll see how it goes.

I tried, I really tried to get to bed early and get up at 5:15AM to do some yoga. I was in bed by 11 but couldn't drag myself out of bed. I did get up a few minutes earlier than I used to and did do a few sun salutations but my heart was just not in it.
